Leonardo DiCaprio’s THE GUARDIANS Is His First Animated Movie

Still waiting for SHUTTER ISLAND to come out in theaters, I swear it’s as if my favorite books that got turned into movies often get their release dates screwd with by the studio, last year it was The Road, I had to wait one freakin’ year and this year it was SHUTTER ISLAND. But Leonardo DiCaprio is going to be making his animated feature debut with THE GUARDIANS. He will voice star as Jack Frost…
Via comingsoon.net, the announcement came from DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. today, THE GUARDIANS which is still a working title for now, will open on November 2nd, 2012. Produced by Christina Steinberg and Nancy Bernstein, directed by Peter Ramsey, based on The Guardians of Childhood a series to be published in 2011, from author William Joyce
Not too long ago Dreamworks hired Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire to pen the adaptation. At the time, all we knew was that it would unite characters every child knows — Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, Jack Frost and the Sandman — to defend the world from a Bogeyman-like villain but now, the following plot has been released…
When an evil spirit called Pitch becomes bent upon taking over the world by inspiring fear in the hearts of kids everywhere, a group of our greatest heroes — Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman and Jack Frost — band together for the first time, determined to stand in Pitch’s way. More than a collection of storybook subjects, “The Guardians” are also a band of superheroes, who possess their own special powers. Now joined in opposition of a common foe, the Guardians heed the call and combine their powers to defeat Pitch and protect the world from his campaign of fear.
Cool.. we’re going to see some ass-kicking holiday icons.
So this will be DiCaprio’s first animated movie and Ramsey’s first directorial movie, maybe they’ll learn as they go.
What I wanna see is DiCaprio doing comedy.. that I don’t remember the last time he was in comedy.. it’d be rad if he could make a cameo appearance in THE HANGOVER 2 or something.
