When Laika decided to dump their CG animation department and just focus solely on stop motion and then director Henry Selick who helped establish the studio and helmed Coraline, Laika’s success story, left the company, fans were wondering if Laika would rise from all this, and what their next big hit would be. Turns out, all Laika needed to do was tell a LITTLE WHITE LIE…
Hollywood Reporter said Chris McCoy and Jan Pinkava are writing Laika’s next animated film LITTLE WHITE LIE
Pinkava came up with this original idea. By the way, the plot for this movie hasn’t been revealed yet. Pinkava who had a good history with Pixar, worked on Monsters Inc., Toy Story 2, A Bug’s Life, Ratatouille, will direct LITTLE WHITE LIE
Laika is also developing an adaptation of HERE BE MONSTERS! based on a book by Alan Snow and an original feature titled PARANORMAN about “a 13-year-old protecting his small town from a zombie attack”.. my kinda movie!
Here’s the official synopsis of the book HERE BE MONSTERS!…
“Skulduggery is afoot!
Welcome to Ratbridge. But beware — for there is skulduggery afoot. Young Arthur has fallen foul of the appalling outlaw, Snatcher, and is trapped alone in the town with every way home sealed. Meanwhile Snatcher and his men are working tirelessly in secret on a fiendish and dastardly plan to take over — and destroy — the entire town. With the help of Willbury Nibble, QC; some friendly boxtrolls and cabbageheads; Marjorie the frustrated inventor; and the rats and pirates from the Ratbridge Nautical Laundry, can Arthur thwart Snatcher’s evil plans — and find his way home?”
