Here it is! Your first look at Dwayne Johnson‘s return to action genre after meddling with Disney’s family friendly films (that weren’t even all that) for far too long. The article at USA TODAY wants to let us know that Johnson is seriously back as an action star, his character gets shot in the head, he gets to use a Ruger double-action revolver a.k.a “bear stopper” the gun hunters usually use to stop charging animals…

Well it’s about freakin’ time, Rock! Welcome back!.. that Islander tatoo is probably going to keep him from being a chameleon/versatile actor.. but hey, as long as he stays an action star, he can add some more body paint for all I care.

This CBS Films/Sony Pictures project FASTER , starring Dwayne Johnson, is an action/thriller about an ex-con bent on avenging the death of his brother, murdered 10 years earlier when the two were double-crossed during a heist. Things get even more complicated and intense because while hunting down the people responsible for his brother’s death, the ex-con (Johnson) is also being pursued by several guys who want him dead.  Billy Bob Thornton is set to play a veteran policeman who trails Driver as he races to settle with those responsible for the murder. Co-starring Carla Gugino,  Maggie Grace, Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Moon Bloodgood
To be directed by George Tillman Jr. (Men Of Honor, Notorious) The script was written by Tony Gayton
Gugino is set to play the detective in charge of the investigation, hot on his trail (emphasize “hot”) and hell-bent on connecting the killings with a decade-old case.
