LA Times has a new photo of THOR showing you Chris Hemsworth as the Norse god of Thunder, Anthony Hopkins as Odin and Tom Hiddleston as Loki. 3 gods in one image. What do you think of the costume and especially the look they gave Hopkins with his eye patch? The article also says that both THOR and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER will be released in 3D..
Neither films were shot in 3D so they’re going to go through post conversion but both director insist that they’re going to do it right unlike the recent plagues that were Clash Of The Titans and The Last Airbender.
Marvel’s head honcho Kevin Feige promised, that this time,..”an unprecedented amount of time” would be devoted to the conversion process.
Kenneth Branagh, director of THOR said this..
“We came to feel that in our case 3-D could be the very good friend of story and character for a different kind of experience,”
“math and physics and way over my head,”
“It’s another draft of the story that can reveal itself in a different way,”
“I had a healthy degree of skepticism up front … I’ve become somebody extremely excited about working with possibilities of doing it this way.”
Joe Johnston, director of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGERS said this…
“I think it tends to be overused and can be a little bit gimmicky… A lot of people are using 3-D now because they feel have they have to… that will come and go and the pictures that deserve to be in 3-D will continue to be. When it’s done bad, it can make you carsick.”
Johnston went on to say that they tried a one day test shoot with a 3D camera but it was too bulky, and there were calibration issues and restricted filmmaking options.
So both directors are confident that if post-conversion is done right, both movies could turn out just as exciting.
Both THOR and CAPTAIN AMERICA cast and filmmakers will invade Comic-Con this year, their panels take place in Hall H on Saturday
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER
Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige will produce CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER. Alan Fine, Stan Lee, David Maisel and Louis D’Esposito will executive produce. The film will be released in the US on July 22, 2011 and distributed by Paramount Pictures.
Starring Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter and Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving as Red Skull
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America.
In addition to CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including the highly anticipated sequel, IRON MAN 2, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow on May 7, 2010, THOR on May 6, 2011, and Marvel Studios’ THE AVENGERS on May 4, 2012.
Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy’s earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment… Operation: Rebirth. After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the Super-Solider Serum and bombarded by “vita-rays.” Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program. Three months later, he was given his first assignment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and as leader of the Avengers.
