We’ve seen the first look image and even some concept art and now THR’s Heat Vision reported Disney has found the voice of RAPUNZEL and it’s none other than Mandy Moore. If you ask me, I think she hasn’t done anything significant since the 2004 teen flickSaved!
RAPUNZEL is the 3D-animated musical action-adventure inspired by the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, to be directed by Nathan Greno (animation department on Bolt) and Byron Howard (co-director on Bolt)
The great Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) will compose the movie’s music
Along with Moore is also Zachary Levi (TV’s Chuck) is set to voice the dashing bandit who finds himself on the road with the rebellious princess with the ridiculously long blond hair.
What strikes me as weird is that in the report, there’s no mentioning of Kristin Chenoweth, Dan Fogler, David Schwimmer and Matthew Gray Gubler that were previously thought to be attached to this project but maybe things have changed. After all, John Lasseter of Pixar came on board, took over the project which was titled RAPUNZEL UNBRAIDED at the time and just started from scratch in 2006, now the movie even has a clear plot
Disney’s new “Rapunzel” picks up with the princess, famous for her 70 feet of golden hair, after she’s been stolen from her parents’ castle as an infant and imprisoned. Now a teenager, Rapunzel escapes and goes on the run with a bandit as her captor pursues them.
