McG Has An UGLY FAT FRIEND

McG doesn’t get to do 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA for Disney anymore, he probably won’t get to do another Terminator movie anymore as well, at least not at this point. But he will get to direct an adaptation. Variety said McG has optioned the screen rights to THE DUFF (Designated Ugly Fat Friend) based on the upcoming debut novel by 20 year old author Kody Keplinger. I know, for a moment there I thought it was a movie about that beer dude, The Duffman from The Simpsons series,.. that would be awesome.
THE DUFF is a coming of age story which will be produced by McG‘s Wonderland Sound and Vision with Vast Entertainment CEO Lane Shefter Bishop. After the jump is the official synopsis of the book and a look at its cover..

Seventeen-year-old Bianca Piper is cynical and loyal, and she doesn’t think she’s the prettiest of her friends by a long shot. She’s also way too smart to fall for the charms of man-slut and slimy school hottie Wesley Rush. In fact, Bianca hates him. And when he nicknames her “Duffy,” she throws her Coke in his face.
