Back in 2010, it was reported that Preger Entertainment bought the screen rights to New York Time’s best selling book series VAMPIRE ACADEMY by author Richelle Mead. There are six books. The series has sold well over 3.5 million copies domestically and 1 million copies internationally.
Took them long enough, but the project is finally moving forward. Deadline said Reliance and IM GLobal are co-financing the first installment and it’s titled VAMPIRE ACADEMY: BLOOD SISTERS, production will start this Spring and they’ve already cast Zoey Deutch and Lucy Fry as Rose and Lissa respectively, and Danila Kozlovski plays Dimitri…
Here’s the synopsis of the first volume…
“St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger. . . .
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.”
