It’s not uncommon for movies these days to hit VOD before it gets theatrical release, it’s kinda new when you deal with a big name like Mel Gibson.
Deadline reported that Gibson’s banner, Icon, about his latest film, GET THE GRINGO (also known as HOW I SPENT MY SUMMER VACATION), has signed a deal with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment for a domestic direct-to-consumer release.
The film will be released May 1 on DirecTV at $10.99 per home viewing. And then a wider release on Blu-Ray, VOD and digital download will happen later in the year.
