Men In Black Josh Brolin

Here comes the Men in Black with Josh Brolin. Hero Complex reported that one of the hardest working men in Hollywood (Jonah Hex, True Grit, Cartel) is being considered for a role in the Columbia Pictures franchise about a secret agency that handles aliens in disguise living among us on this planet. A couple of months ago, the studio hired Tropic Thunder co-writer Etan Cohen to write MEN IN BLACK 3 and now with Brolin coming in strong, the target release date of 2011 is getting closer and closer to reality…

Brolin’s role in MEN IN BLACK 3 is not revealed yet, in fact we’re still waiting for confirmation if his deal is officially locked in. But here’s what they’re thinking of having him play… He might play a new agent, with Tommy Lee Jones‘ Agent K passing the baton to Brolin’s character. So we might see Brolin and Smith team up….or he might play Agent K as a young man which suggests flashbacks or part prequel. Once again, his involvement and his role are still to be determined.

One thing for sure, the article confirms that Will Smith will indeed return as agent J in this third installment which will be directed by Barry Sonnenfeld again. Production is expected to start in 2010 in New York City.
I think Brolin would be a good addition to the team, but I’ve always admired Brolin for wisely choosing his next gigs, MEN IN BLACK 3 is not what I’d consider wisely choosing your next gigs.
The first MEN IN BLACK in 1997 was made with a budget of $90 Million and it earned $250 Million domestically
MEN IN BLACK II in 2002 was made with a budget of $140 Million and earned a disappointing $190 Million domestically.
