MODERN FAMILY Director Jason Winer To Direct ARTHUR Remake

I’m a big fan of the comedy series Modern Family, hands down the funniest show on TV since Arrested Development and the current force 30 Rock. The concept is brilliant, the one-liner jokes are smart and hilarious, and the actors’ comedic timing cannot be more perfect. According to Hollywood Reporter, Jason Winer who directed 10 episodes of Modern Family and won DGA for his work on the pilot has been hired by WB to direct ARTHUR Remake..

It was announced a couple of years ago that Russell Brand would star in ARTHUR, playing the character made famous by the late great Dudley Moore. The original movie plot centers around Arthurs who is a happy drunk with no pretensions at any ambition. He is also the heir to a vast fortune which he is told will only be his if he marries Susan. He does not love Susan, but she will make something of him the family expects. Arthur proposes but then meets a girl with no money who he could easily fall in love with.
There was a sequel titled ARTHUR 2: ON THE ROCKS also starring Moore
The screenplay for the remake has already been written by Peter Baynham
I like the prospect of Winer directing this film but I still can’t get myself to liking the idea of Brand as the star.
