Deadline reported that filmmaker Oren Moverman (The Messenger, RAMPART) has been hired to write the draft on THE TERRORIST SEARCH ENGINE for Sony Pictures. Back in May, it was reported that Oscar winning producer Scott Rudin, who backs the project, wanted Jesse Eisenberg to be the star of this film. Eisenberg played Mark Zuckerberg in Rudin-produced facebook biopic The Social Network
There’s a possibility that Moverman may get to direct THE TERRORIST SEARCH ENGINE as well but that part of his involvement is not yet confirmed..
Super producer Scott Rudin (No Country For Old Men) who was nominated for both True Grit and The Social Network last year, optioned the rights to a recent NY Mag article, written by Wesley Yang, THE TERRORIST SEARCH ENGINE, it’s a controversial profile of a counterterrorism expert witness Evan Kohlmann a.k.a The Doogie Howser of Terrorism, an FBI agent who when he was just 23, helped convict 23 defendants in federal courts and Guantanamo Bay tribunals with his expert witness testimony.
Kohlmann who’s now 31 years old, “has made testifying at such trials his principal source of income and earned a reputation in some circles as “working in the ‘guilty-verdict industry.’”
