NEW MOON Is Now The Third All-Time Biggest Opening Weekend Domestically

The Twilight Saga: NEW MOON might have taken the midnight opening throne, it may have taken the single day record as well but the top place for all time opening weekend still belongs to The Dark Knight with an unbeatable $158.4 Million. But NEW MOON is not without its own achievement and celebration, the sequel is now the third biggest opening weekend domestically of all time, earning $140.7 Million, beating Pirates Of The Caribbean 2 and 3, on top of that, so far it has also earned $118.1 Million internationally bringing the worldwide total to $258.8 Million as of today. The question is, will the success continue?
The reason The Dark Knight was magnificent was because people and critics in general thought it was a damn great movie, audiences kept coming back again and again, for the second and third viewing. I’ve heard nothing but bad reviews of NEW MOON, not just from bloggers and critics but also from Twilight fans themselves who happen to love the books more.
Movies that open nationwide next week are FANTASTIC Mr. FOX, THE ROAD, OLD DOGS, and NINJA ASSASSIN.
So if this weekend belonged to the girls, next weekend guys will hopefully flock to theaters to see some ass-kickin’ Ninjas fight to the death and help the James McTeigue-directed movie take the box office throne from NEW MOON.
