The last time we heard anything on Disney’s 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA: CAPTAIN NEMO was that McG wanted either Will Smith or Sam Worthington as Captain Nemo and scribe Randall Wallace (Braveheart) was hired to rewrite the script that was rewritten by Justin Marks (He-Man) using a draft by Bill Marsilli. None of that matters now, Disney has put the project to a complete stop…

According to Variety, Disney has halted 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA: CAPTAIN NEMO indefinitely and McG is not attached as the director anymore. Production was actually scheduled to start in February 2010 but now Disney is just going to focus on bringing back your favorite pirate Jack Sparrow for the fourth installment, ON STRANGERS TIDE which is expected to start filming in May 2010 with Rob Marshall (Chicago) as the possible director.

This is great, after Terminator Salvation, I don’t think I wanna see McG making any movie for a while, not until he actually analyzes his mistakes and comes up with a better style. That said, he is attached to the WB drama DEAD SPY RUNNING with the script currently bring written by Stephen Gaghan, this baffles me because Gaghan (Syriana) to me is a not too shabby director, I think he should also put on the director’s hat for this project instead of McG.
McG has always wanted to do TERMINATOR 5 but with the franchise’s bankruptcy problem, trying to find anybody who’d wanna buy it..so the prospect of TERMINATOR 5 is… well, let’s just say.. don’t hold your breath.
