No DICTATOR Promotion At The Oscars For You, Sacha Baron Cohen!

Sacha Baron Cohen has a habit and not a lot of people like this particular habit, which is.. he likes to pull stunts publicly to promote his new movies. In anticipation of Borat, at the Toronto International Film Festival, Cohen showed up as Borat with a bunch of women dressed up as peasants, in anticipation of Bruno, he showed up as the character at MTV movie awards, hanging on a wire, with barely nothing on, dropping himself on top of rapper Eminem who got pretty pissed about it, but we all knew he was in on it. So.. Cohen wanted to do something insane for the upcoming Oscars but Oscars wouldn’t have it..

According to Hollywood Reporter, Cohen is scheduled to attend this Sunday’s Oscars because he’s part of the cast of HUGO which is nominated for Best Pictuere.
Cohen wanted to show up as his latest character, THE DICTATOR, with full on costume, accent, attitude, the whole nine yards, but the Academy did not allow Cohen to use the red carpet for his promotional stunt. But they’re not banning him, they just didn’t want him to do what he had in mind.
The Academy considers his stunt inappropriate and ya know what, I’d have to agree, I mean.. we need to keep things classy and prestigious. But then again, Cohen showing up as THE DICTATOR may probably be the only entertaining part of the evening, we all know a lot of people think Oscars is boring.
What do you think? Should the Academy lighten up and let Cohen do his thing?

  2. As Conan O’Brien said “The Oscars won’t have him because they’re afraid things’ll get interesting”. The Oscars are taylor made for boring old farts. I doubt anyone who enjoys the wonderfully wild comedy of Sascha Baron Cohen would waste their time watching the Oscars anyway.
