Norrington Is Out Of THE CROW Reboot

Whatever director Stephen Norrington had in mind for THE CROW, we might not get to see it in its full form because, via Mania, he revealed that he’s no longer attached to the project..

“I don’t know about that story but I can tell you I’m no longer involved with The Crow,”
“As I had gotten involved explicitly as a writer-director my exit was inevitable. I was bummed. I had developed a genuinely authentic take that respected the source material while moving beyond it, and Nick Cave came in and added more depth,”
“I think the fans would have been pleasantly surprised.”

Previous rumor stated that the job has been offered to Mark Wahlberg, Norrington didn’t give confirmation but he did say that an unnamed star had gotten involved and liked Norrington’s vision and wanted to work with him but then he didn’t like Norrington/Cave’s rework and asked for a complete new take from a new writer. Norrington didn’t reveal who that star was.

“I will say I think Wahlberg could be cool if they take a gritty blue-collar approach,” Norrington commented on the rumor. “He’s a truthful actor. I think he could really ground the supernatural stuff.”

Norrington was attached to THE CROW reboot for the last 18 months, last year producer Edward Pressman said he hired musician/screenwriter Nick Cave who gave us John Hillcoat-directed western flick The Proposition, to rewrite THE CROW remake script by Stephen Norrington, a script that Pressman once said was ‘terrific’.
