Owen Wilson Voices MARMADUKE

When you read MARMADUKE comic strip on a Sunday newspaper, did you picture the mischievous great Dane in your head to be voiced by Owen Wilson? I’ve always thought of it like Scooby Doo, which doesn’t speak much. From one dog movie (Marley & Me) to another, Hollywood Reporter says, Wilson has signed on to be the voice of MARMADUKE in the Fox’s hybrid (mix of CG and live action) movie based on the characters created by Brad Anderson, about a big dog that lives with the Winslow family and exhibits many out of control characteristics not typically displayed by dogs….
I think what would’ve been a better idea for the movie is if they had kept the look of the comic strip itself, 2D hand drawn black and white animation.
The script by Tim Rasmussen and Vince Di Meglio will have MARMADUKE in a “volatile Mutts vs. Pedigrees turf war, woo the purebred of his dreams and overcome a fall from grace.”
Directed by Tom Dey (Failure to Launch) here’s the rest of the cast
