We know now that GREEN LANTERN has moved its production from Australia and last month there was a casting call to find the supporting roles including the villain SINESTRO, the former mentor of Hal Jordan and the arch-nemesis of the entire Green Lantern Corps. SpoilerTV said they were looking for male actor in Mid-30s to Mid-40s, smart, tough, intimidating and in great physical shape. AICN has heard it through the grapevine that Oscar nominee Jackie Earle Haley is on top of the list to play Sinestro.
Not only that, they also heard that SUPERMAN will be making a cameo in the movie. No confirmation yet on these 2 info, so take ‘em with a grain of salt for now.
I think Haley is a great actor and kudos if he can do GREEN LANTERN‘s villain as well. But WATCHMEN, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, and now this?! Boy he sure tries to make up for the lost times pre-Little Children years when he couldn’t get a decent gig. I just hope he tackles another Oscar worthy role in the near future because attaching himself to all these franchises might get his real acting skills a bit rusty in time.
With Marvel cross connecting all its superheroes, making them appear in each other’s movies, having SUPERMAN do a cameo is just DC’s way of keeping up with the competition. Cool idea, but too much of a copycat. I don’t know if it would create the same sensation and excitement as when we saw Tony Stark showed up in the bar, greeting Gen. Thunderbolt in The Incredible Hulk. And will Brandon Routh return just for a quick cameo? Or will it be a new actor.. which means he’s going to continue to play SUPERMAN for DC?

Only less than a month away until the release of Disney’s A CHRISTMAS CAROL in 3D directed by the great Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump) starring Jim Carrey as Scrooge and a bunch of other motion capture characters in this classic tale.
The featurette is online, via Yahoo, which you can watch using the media player below. Basic stuff, actors praising directors, directors praising actors, all of them praising one of the oldest redemption stories ever told. Check it out after this jump… Continue reading

Not too long ago, we heard that GREEN LANTERN hit a road bump because Australian dollar has “blown out production costs” and there were reports that the studio might move the production to possibly around New Orleans area. Hollywood Reporter said it’s been confirmed that WB has pulled the production of GREEN LANTERN out of Australia.
The decision was made because of “the current global economic situation, including fluctuations in currency valuation and overall costs,”
Turns out, the dollar is falling against every other countries currency, not just Australia. GREEN LANTERN will still open on scheduled, June 17th, 2011 but production will move to either Mexico or Canada.
Starring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan. Martin Campbell will be directing using the script written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green.

The trailer for THE SPY NEXT DOOR is now online via moviefone. This is basically Jackie Chan‘s The Pacifier. Do me a favor please and don’t watch this trailer. Just think back and cherish all the good Jackie Chan movies in the past like Drunken Master and hold on to that memory because once you’ve seen this dumb, dumb trailer, there’s no turning back, I kid you not.
Ok, don’t say I didn’t warn you. If you still insist, watch it at your own risk after this jump… Continue reading

UPDATE: Steve Of Collider said the following info is premature because.. “it’s not clear who will be back on “Beverly Hills Cop 4″ as the studio is hiring a new writer and they are starting over.”
Real quick now, Clint of Moviehole reported that BEVERLY HILLS COP 4 which will be directed by Brett Ratner will be a…”true sequel” to the 1984 hit. That would ease the pain a little bit. It’ll be like the last 2 films never existed. It also means that we’re going to see Rosewood and Taggart again. Those 2 cops were played by Judge Reinhold and John Ashford who didn’t reprise his role in the third installment due to scheduling conflict. He dodged a bullet there.
We previously learned that the script by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt was an original work, an action/thriller cop movie that got adjusted and converted into BEVERLY HILLS COP 4 so there’s a slight chance this might be Murphy’s way to redeem himself from Meet Dave, Imagine That, Norbit, Daddy Day Care and a string of torturous movies over the past decade.
Still not excited about this yet? I don’t blame you. You can bring back Ashford, Reinhold, Murphy and everybody from the past and it still won’t be enough, this sequel lost me at Brett Ratner and BEVERLY HILLS COP 4.

Back in May, director Sam Raimi did express regret over some of the flaws from previous Spider-Man movies, especially the disastrous Spider-Man 3, so his regret was the closest thing to an apology that I was willing to accept. But talking recently, via Coventrytelegraph, he admitted that the biggest mistake about Spider-Man 3 was having too many damn villains,.. duh!
It was bad enough that the story and character development for Sandman and New Goblin didn’t get explored very well, it made things worse by adding the lame Topher Grace to play Venom.
Venom is a great villain that deserves to have an ultimate duel with your friendly neighborhood hero, just themselves alone, battling it out, without any one else involved.
“I think having so many villains detracted from the experience. I would agree with the criticism.”
“I think I’ve learned about the importance of getting to the point and the importance of having limitations, and I’m hoping to take that into a production where I’m actually allowed to explore with more of the tools to pull it off with a little more splendor.
“I hope I don’t lose that edge that I’ve just found. That would be my approach to ‘Spider-Man 4′: to get back to the basics.”
So here’s what we know so far about SPIDER-MAN 4. Gary Ross is rewriting the script. Filming will start in March 2010. The movie opens May 5th, 2011.
Tobey Maguire will return. And Raimi said whoever the villain they’ll be incorporated into another Peter Parker’s coming-of-age experience.
So far there’s no mention of having more than one villain, so that’s a good sign.
Spider-Man 3 may be a stinker but it earned $890 Million worldwide.
But what do you think Raimi meant by getting ‘back to the basics’? What do you hope to happen in SPIDER-MAN 4? Will this promise be good enough to assure the fans who were disappointed by the third installment?

The feature trailer for MARY AND MAX has arrived via NY Times, which you can watch using the media player below. Just the other day, we saw 13 potential animated features in 2009 that may compete for the 5 slots available at the next Oscars and MARY AND MAX is one of them. This claymation premiered at Sundance ’09 to great reviews and it’s now available on demand, so I’ll find out if this could give Pixar’s UP a run for its money.

UPDATE: MTV Moviesblog got word from Vin Diesel‘s publicist that the following rumor about him not returning for XXX 3 is completely NOT TRUE. So there you have it, Diesel will be back in action once again as Xander Cage.
If you were on of the few anticipating Vin Diesel reprising his role in XXX 3: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE (Why?). There has been an unfortunate development.. or as some of us would call it.. a blessing in disguise.
Cinefools reported that Vin Diesel has exited the project.
That’s right… seems like he went on his nitro boost custom car and just took off. No reason why he decided not to move forward with this anymore but it some say he’s rather work with Rob Cohen than that Ericson Core dude who was hired to replace Cohen for the directing job. Word has it the reason why Diesel said yes in the first place was because of Cohen.
Could this be the demise of XXX 3 all together? Judging form the previous script review, if Diesel’s exit does cancel the project, it’ll be nothing but good-riddance. Unless Columbia is still stubborn and hires Ice Cube again… or who do you think should be the new Xander Cage?
