Phil Lord And Chris Miller To Direct 21 JUMP STREET

We haven’t heard much about 21 JUMP STREET the movie since summer when writer/actor Jonah Hill said that Sony Execs have given him the green light to do his kind of movie and that is a rated R action big screen version of the the series, which ran from 1987-1991 was about young cops who got signed to an elite squad that would infiltrate highs school and fight crimes, featuring future mega movie star Johnny Depp. Names like Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) and Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) were said to have been circling the project but according to Heat Vision, the directing job would go to 2 animated feature filmmakers…
Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the two brains behind one of my favorite movies of the year, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs are in serious talks to direct 21 JUMP STREET. Hill previously promised that the movie will be a full-on action movie, blowing shit up, an R-rated, insane, Bad-Boys-meets-John Hughes-type movie
Ya know I’ve been vouching for Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs to get Best Animated Feature Oscar but only because I think Pixar’s UP deserves to be in the highest category of Best Picture of the year.
I’m not sure how Lord and Miller will do as far as action genre goes but obviously they’ve done pretty well in comedy, they’ve worked on various TV shows, including How I Met Your Mother.
We’ll see if they can collaborate with the supposed R-rated script written by Hill and scribe Michael Bacall. Depp once said that he wouldn’t mind making a cameo appearance, so that would be interesting.
