Pixar’s Greats, Brad Bird (THE INCREDIBLES) And Michael Arndt (TOY STORY 3) Help Make TRON LEGACY Even Better

What is the one thing that Pixar is consistently good at? The story. It always has heart, emotion and it’s powerful. Toy Story 3 was the latest example, which was written by Oscar winning scribe Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine). And that kind of quality is what Disney wanted TRON LEGACY to have…

So the biggest movie of the year will get even bigger and better because according to EW, the two scribes hired to help beef up TRON LEGACY script for the six day reshoot last month were none other than 2 of Pixar’s best, Arndt and Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Ratatouille).
Back in March, TRON LEGACY director Joe Krosinski and his team showed a very early working cut of the film to Pixar key masters including Lasseter, Catmull, Bird, Arndt, among others. They wanted to amp up the character, the emotion, the theme.. to leave you a lasting impression more than just visually stunning. So Arndt and Bird were hired to write some pages for the re-shoots which already took place last month, and it lasted for about six days. They collaborated of course with the original writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (Lost)
So it wasn’t like passing the project on to someone else or having someone else come in and take over,.. the whole deal was a beneficial collaboration.

Disney’s president of production, Sean Bailey said this..

“Tron is very much Joe Kosinski’s vision, a vision which is thrilling to me and I hope is thrilling to the fans,”
“What I give Joe and the filmmaking team immense credit for, is this was all born out of how do we give the fans the best movie we can. We were very fortunate that Pixar wanted to play a part in it.”

Very smart move on the part of TRON LEGACY filmmakers, I think on December 17th, 2010, not only will we be blown away by the visual but we’ll also be captivated by the solid story.
