Polanski Wants To Be Released. Swiss Says NO!

Roman Polanski

I’d like to take this quick moment to celebrate the fact that according to Variety, Swiss Justice Ministry has REJECTED an appeal by Roman Polanski to be immediately released from prison. Justice is alive and well after all.
The report states that “the risk was too great for the Swiss government to accept bail or other security measures in exchange for the release. the Justice Ministry has submitted a letter to the tribunal explaining why it opposes release even on bail. Two former Zurich prosecutors have said Polanski stands a minimal chance of an immediate release.”

Polansi was detained in Zurich, while he was on his way to accept a film award. He pleaded guilty back in 1977 for having sex with a 13 year old girl but he fled the States right before he had to do the jail time. Fast forward to 30+ years later, now Polanski will finally answer to the blindfolded lady with a scale and a sword in her hands.

Hollywood stars and celebrities are demanding his freedom. Apparently to them, the fact that Polanski is an Oscar winner who made really damn good movies in the past (Chinatown, Rosemary’s Baby, The Pianist) is good enough reason to erase the tiny bitty detail called sexual crime against minor.
If Bruce Willis robbed a bank, which is unlikely, it would break my heart because I grew up idolizing the man as my favorite movie star but I’m not going to be so stupid as to tell everyone that he needs to be free cause he makes awesome movies.

Granted, that 13 year old girl who now is known as Samantha Geimer had forgiven Polanski for what he did to her and she actually joined in Polanski’s bid for freedom, that’s awesome and all and ya know what, I’m a big believer in forgiving people too but.. I’m also a big believer in consequences for every action. They say ‘it’s nothing personal, it’s just business’.. well, I have 2 younger sisters, so this has always been kind of personal to me.
