The Taking Of Pelham 123 remake was one of last year’s big disappointments so please understand if I’m not keeping my hopes up about any of director Tony Scott’s next projects including the upcoming thriller UNSTOPPABLE starring Scott’s go-to guy, Denzel Washington and Chris Pine. But Deadline New York has learned what Scott will do after that, and that is POTSDAMER PLATZ… Pots what?..

The title is based on a train station and bustling commerce center in Germany but the story in the movie will take place in Puerto Rico instead.
The actors circling this project are Javier Bardem and THE EXPENDABLES stars Jason Statham and Mickey Rourke.
Scripted by Buddy Giovinazzo, acquired by Scott Free Banner back in 200o and it’s been rewritten by scribes David Scinto and Louis Mellis, the team behind Sexy Beast.
It’s a drama about two soldiers in a New Jersey-based crime family who try to expand internationally. Production is expected to start in fall and the title might change.
Word had it that Scott tried to get his Crimson Tide star Gene Hackman out of retirement and into this project but Hackman is not interested.. which is a shame really. I know it’s just a Tony Scott movie but Hackman’s last was Welcome To Mooseport, same like Connery who left us on a League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen note.. two great actors who chose not to go out in a blaze of glory, those two movies were not what I’d consider a grand exit.
What do you think of Tony Scott‘s movies?
