Rachel McAdams Shoots Down The Black Cat Rumor

The great slashfilm pointed out not too long ago that The Black Cat is indeed going to be part of the story of SPIDER-MAN 4. The twist is, The Black Cat a.k.a Felicia Hardy is the daughter of the new man in charge of the Daily Bugle, who just happens to be one of Spidey’s new villains. Still waiting to hear any confirmation on whether or not that info is true but one thing we can now know for sure is NOT TRUE is… the rumor about Rachel McAdams meeting with the producers about playing the role of Spidey’s sexy stalker.
McAdams denied it, via Entertainment Weekly..
“That’s a total rumor, I have to say,” the actress, who will next be seen in the Dec. 25 action-adventure tentpole Sherlock Holmes, tells EW. “I was hanging out in Toronto the other day and someone came up to me and said, ‘I just heard you’re doing Spider-Man 4.‘ And I said, ‘Really? No one told me!’ It’s not true.” A rep for Sony Pictures concurs: “It’s an Internet rumor, as so many things are these days.”
That’s a shame. I kinda think she’d be decent as The Black Cat. Rama’s SCREEN reader Karen thinks she deserves her own action movie, I can see that, but hopefully it goes more along the line of Angelina Jolie (Tomb Raider) or Kate Beckinsale (Underworld) instead of Charlize Theron (Aeon Flux) and Halle Berry (Catwoman)
Brit thesp Romola Garai was reportedly trying to get a female lead role as well in SPIDER-MAN 4 although she didn’t specify if it was The Black Cat.
For now, the search continues.
