Riskybusiness said Relativity Media is in talks to domestically distribute Lionsgate’s MACHINE GUN PREACHER, starring Gerard Butler, directed by Marc Forster. No theatrical release date yet but the $30 Million, independently financed film is expected to arrive in the fall. Lionsgate will sill release the film internationally. The reason for this Lionsgate-Relativity’s collaboration is because Lionsgate already has a packed fall schedule with WARRIOR, ABDUCTION and SAFE arriving in September and October while Relativity has 2 open months between SHARK NIGHT 3D in September and IMMORTALS in November…

Gerard Butler (Law Abiding Citizen, 300) plays Reverend Sam Childers, known as “the machine gun preacher.”
Michelle Monaghan (Eagle Eye, Gone Baby Gone) plays his wife, Lynn Childers
Michael Shannon (The Runaways, Revolutionary Road) plays Childers’s best friend, Donnie
Madeline Carroll (The Spy Next Door, Swing Vote) plays Childers’s daughter, Paige
Kathy Baker (Last Chance Harvey, Street Smart) plays Childers’s mother, Daisy Childers
Souleymane Sy Savane (Goodbye Solo, Damages) plays Deng, Childers’s right hand in Africa.

The script was written by Jason Keller from Childer’s memoir ANOTHER MAN’S WAR: THE TRUE STORY OF ONE MAN’S BATTLE TO SAVE CHILDREN IN THE SUDAN

The rise of Sam Childers from violent, drug-addicted biker to a man willing to risk everything to rescue the orphans and child soldiers of Sudan

“”All my life, from birth, it’s been a fight. And it always seemed to be “”another man’s war. I always seemed to be fighting for someone else. But it always came back to me. The Word says we’re born into sin, and sin always comes back to war.” -”Sam Childers

Sam Childers has always been a fighter. Born to a violent father and a mother of great faith, his life was a contradiction. With an affinity for drugs and women, the angry young man grew into a drug-dealing biker. But that was then. Nowadays Sam-along with the cadre of Sudanese soldiers he employs-spends his time in the most dangerous parts of Sudan and Uganda rescuing the youngest victims of war, orphans and child-soldiers. His mission is simple: save the children, no matter the cost.
