Robert Rodriguez In Talks To Direct DEADPOOL

Robert Rodriguez has been long rumored as the potential candidate to direct DEADPOOL for Fox. Ryan Reynolds is still attached to star as the badass, mouthy, wise-cracking mercenary. He told MTV last week that he had received the script but wasn’t sure if he would direct the project or not. Today LA Times said it’s happening.. Rodriguez and Fox are in negotiation stages..

No deals are locked in yet but this is a good sign. Question is. whether or not Fox would allow Rodriguez to have full control and unleash an R-rated action/comedy or if Fox would apply its usual a-holish attitude and limit Rodriguez’s creativity to the point of no breathing room that results in a horrible film.
Rodriguez himself is still busy promoting PREDATORS which he produced and soon enough he’ll be busy promoting MACHETE which he co-directed and after that, he’s set to direct SPY KIDS 4: ARMAGEDDON which has been scheduled to hit theaters next year.

Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were hired to pen the story which they insist will stay true to the mythology cause they don’t wanna offend “Reynolds who is a huge fan and protector of the property”. The character creator Rob Liefeld previously said that DEADPOOL movie is going to break the 4th wall and the red antihero will be “tortured, clever, a bastard and mucho action”.. which makes it the perfect job for Rodriguez.
I also seriously think Fox should take director Nimrod Antal (Armored, Predators) into consideration. That man knows what he’s doing
