Robin Williams Goes GENTLY DOWN THE STREAM

I finally got to watch Robin Williams‘ stand up show, Weapon Of Mass Destruction, online but it didn’t crack me up as much as Live On Broadway about a decade ago. As an actor, Williams, to me, hasn’t done anything significant either. License To Wed, Night At The Museum 2 and Old Dogs were beneath him. In 2009, World’s Greatest Dad reminded us that he was once an Oscar winner, but I think he’s still got some ammo left in him..

Variety reported that Williams will play yet another priestly figure, Father Monaghan in GENTLY DOWN THE STREAM from writer/director Justin Zackham who penned one of my favorite films in 2007, The Bucket List
The project is star studded with Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton, Katherine Heigl, Amanda Seyfried, Susan Sarandon, Ben Barnes and Patricia Rae

Produced by Two Ton Films banner and Millennium Films which is selling the foreign rights to the film overseas, the project would be retitled THE BIG WEDDING for international audiences.
In the story, ..

“De Niro and Keaton play a long-divorced couple who, for the sake of their adopted son’s wedding and his biological mother, pretend they are still married. They quickly learn that acting the part isn’t easy, especially when their past, present and future unravel for all to see.”

Seyfried plays the bride, Barnes plays the groom, Rae plays Barnes’ Spanish-speaking birth mother who visits America for the first time.
Sarandon plays De Niro’s longtime girlfriend who caters the wedding.
