Ryan Phillippe As CAPTAIN AMERICA?

The search for the actor to play Steve Rogers in the upcoming live action Marvel film THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA has gotten ridiculous. We were told last week that John Krasinski (TV’s The Office) is out of the race, we were led to believe that the choices have come down to either Vogel, Ethel, Evans or Hedlund but now Hitfix said Reese Witherspoon‘s ex may have entered the competition as well..

The website says star of Flags Of Our Fathers, Breach, and Stop-Loss is the latest to be considered for the coveted role of the man with the shield.
Let me just say it right now, I was never and possibly will never be a fan of Phillippe as an actor. Years ago, I used to think he was just a posterboy who looks like Justin Timberlake‘s long lost brother,.. as the years went by, it started to get much clearer to me that he’s a JT look alike posterboy whose on screen performance is not worth my time or money. His part in those movies above could’ve been played by any other actor and they would still be decent movies. None of his contribution made a significant difference.
He will be seen this year in the upcoming SNL sketch based movie MACGRUBER. I think the movie’s going to be hilarious but not thanks to Phillippe.
Once again, I’m not an expert in the world of CAPTAIN AMERICA but if they’re reaching for Phillippe, then that’s a bad sign. I already have my concerns about Joe Johnston (Jurassic Park 3) being the director, now this?!
By the way, he confirmed to MTV that he’s auditioning, how would you respond if announcement comes in and Phillippe got the part?
