Ryan Reynolds, who you can see next in Universal’s thriller SAFE HOUSE, told The Playlist that even though he and the rest of the cast of R.I.P.D. are not signed on for sequels, the film has a plot that’s set up for a sequel to be possible..

“I’m hoping to be able to work with all those people again,”
“It could be a franchise. It certainly is set up, plot-wise, for a sequel. But nobody’s signed on for that just yet. We would like it to be [a film series.]“

R.I.P.D. starring Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges, Mary Louise Parker, Stephanie Szostak, Marisa Miller, James Hong, Robert Knepper and Kevin Bacon as the villain. Directed by Robert Schwentke. The film opens on June 28th, 2013

Jeff Bridges will play Roy Powell (gunslinger who’s been dead for a while) and Ryan Reynolds will play Nick Cruz (recently murdered cop, driven by revenge) in the Robert Schwentke-directed supernatural comedy R.I.P.D.
Szostak will play Reynolds’ wife who can sense that he’s still around.
Parker will play the role that Jodie Foster was circling but then she turned it down.. a female head of the division, who explains to Reynolds’ character what has happened when he dies.
Miller’s role in this film, which marks her feature debut, is kinda funny cause she plays Bridges’ human avatar, which is the form that humans see when Bridges’ character is in its earthly form.. So ya, Bridges can turn into a swimsuit model.
So what’s Reynolds’ avatar? Hong! Yup, the character is Grandpa Chen
Knepper will lay one of the ghosts/deados

Production starts September in Boston. The film will open on June 28th, 2013

R.I.P.D. is based on the Dark Horse comics graphic novel by Peter Lenkov, illustrated by Lucas Marangon and Randy Emberlin.

Order the book today at Amazon, here’s its official synopsis..

“Welcome to the Rest In Peace Department — the devoted, yet dead, officers of divine law enforcement “patrolling the deadbeat…reporting to one boss.” Yep — THAT boss. Nick Cruz was murdered by an unknown assailent, at the height of his personal and professional life. Now he’s traded a hundred years of service to the R.I.P.D. in exchange for a shot at finding who killed him. Unfortunately his search will take him to Hell and back — literally!”
