Sam Worthington Replaces Tom Cruise As The New TOURIST

The most sought after Aussie actor on the planet, Sam Worthington (Terminator Salvation, Avatar, Clash of the Titans) never ceases to amaze us. Either he’s got a great agent or every filmmaker in town wants a piece of this bloke. According to Hollywood Reporter, he’s signed on to star in THE TOURIST as the lead, the role which was initially meant for Tom Cruise to play but Cruise decided to work on that untitled James Mangold comedy with Cameron Diaz.

THE TOURIST is a remake of a 2005 French thriller titled ANTHONY ZIMMER about an American tourist who finds his life in danger when a female Interpol agent uses him as a dupe to flush out an elusive criminal with whom she once had an affair.
To be directed by Bharat Nalluri (Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) using the screenplay by Julian Fellowes and Jeffrey Nachmanoff.
The role of the female Interpol agent will be played by the forever gorgeous Charlize Theron.
Tom Cruise replaced by Sam Worthington, that’s like Tom Cruise replaced by a younger, Aussie version of himself.
