Sam Worthington Says James Cameron Is Going To Push The Technology For AVATAR 2. Cameron Has Told Worthington The Story

I chatted with Sam Worthington yesterday at the press day for his new film, Man On A Ledge. Worthington was the star of 2009′s James Cameron-directed 3D blockbuster, Avatar, which became the highest grossing film of all time.
It’s no secret that the sequels, yup that’s two sequels are happening. James Cameron will shoot AVATAR 2 (opens December 2014) and AVATAR 3 (opens December 2015) back-to-back in the U.S and let’s not forget the ambitious AVATAR theme park that will be constructed at Walt Disney World
And so I asked Worthington how things are coming along with AVATAR 2 and which stage of the development process it’s currently in..

“I’ll see Jim [Cameron] next week to get the next update
I know he’s still writing it and doing other things, saving the world.
But I know that he told me the story.

He’s very collaborative, Jim is.
You listen to what he’s doing, and as always you say ‘What about this?’ and he’ll go ‘It’s my fucking movie, shut up!’ (laugh). No it’s not, That’s a lie! (laugh)

He’s extremely open and he just listens to you
What he’s designing and where he wants it to go is monumental and he’s only going to go when Jim is ready to go, that’s how it works.

He’s going to push the technology, he’s going to push the way we do it. He’s going to push everything, push the story, explore the planets, explore everything.
It’s just bigger, kind of exciting next part of the chapter of Avatar.
I can’t wait to get back into it.”
