Sean Penn The Three Stooges

Last summer, Sean Penn decided to exit THE THREE STOOGES project which was being developed by The Farrelly Bros. At the time, Benicio Del Toro and Jim Carrey were said to play Moe and Curly. Not too long after that an info hit the web that Paul Giamatti will replace Penn, but turns out the deal never got locked in and now, Penn has returned to play Larry…

Bobby Farrelly talked to The Boston Herald and revealed that Penn will play Larry. What I thought was Penn taking a vacation, Farelly said Penn just needed some time off to take care of his family. I’m not into gossip but probably had something to do with his divorce with Robin Wright.
Del Toro is still attached to play Moe but Carrey is nowhere near the project anymore.
THE THREE STOOGES Movie is not a biopic, it’s going to be another comedy with a separate story from the silly side world of Farrelly Bros but this won’t be Farrellys’ next project because they have HALL PASS first, about a man whose wife, looking to spice up their sex life, gives him a pass to play the field for a week, starring Owen Wilson, which starts production next month in Atlanta.
Anybody still excited about this THREE STOOGES Movie? After the dull The Heartbreak Kid and Fever Pitch (damn you Jimmy Fallon), I don’t know if I wanna take another dosage of Farrelly Bros.‘ brand of humor.
Can anyone even imagine what THE THREE STOOGES movie would look like with Del Toro and Penn as Moe and Larry?

  1. I just can not see anyone playing any of the 3 Stooges. I’ll admit Sean Penn bears a resenblence to Larry Fine but that’s as far as it goes. As for Benicio Del Toro playing Moe, it’s a horrible decision. Don’t get me wrong I think Benicio Del Toro is a great actor and I love a lot of his movies but this one is a mistake.

But the biggest mistake of all is trying to make a 3 Stooges movie, or anything for that matter. The 3 Stooges are an icon in the relam of comedy and can never be replaced; and shame on anyone who would even want to make a “new” 3 Stooges.

If the movie actually does get made I have a feeling it’s going to be the biggest flop of the year because as I’ve said, you can not replace Moe, Larry, and Curly
