As you know, there’s a gazillion Frankenstein projects out there. 20th Century Fox has its own, with scribe Max Landis (John Landis‘ son) writing the screenplay. Last month, Deadline reported that director Shawn Levy (Night At The Museum, REAL STEEL)  was eyeing the project.
But Shocktilyoudrop chatted with Landis who confirmed Levy’s involvement and the scribe also explains what the objective of this particular version..

“Shawn Levy, director of ‘Date Night’ and ‘Night at the Museum.’ And ‘Real Steel,’ which you should see. This is going to be sort of a different direction for him. What was cool is when I was first told it was Shawn Levy, I was like, ‘what?’ There was this confusion. But then when I heard a little bit about his vision for the movie, I got very sort of ‘chills in the room’ and very excited, and very sort of up for it. At the end of the day, he’s a smart guy, and he’s going to fucking kill it. And I have a lot of fucking faith in my script.”

“I began to pick apart our knowledge of ‘Frankenstein,’ discovered that the public’s idea of this myth [Egor being Frankenstein's assistant] comes from a million different places. What’s his name, Henry or Victor? Is he a doctor or a drop out? Is he a madman who’s sort of completely evil and against God or is he a Zuckerbergian genius who is misunderstood and is the hero of the piece? I became committed to recontextualizing it all so that it all worked in one story. By the end of the day, yeah, it’s a period piece; yes, it’s from Egor’s perspective. But, man, it’s cool.”
