So.. What Did You Think About TRON: LEGACY?

December 17, 2010Rama13 Comments

I’m sure by now you’ve watched TRON: LEGACY at midnight showing (some of you might wait til the crowd and long lines die down a bit this weekend) and you’ve read my review and now I’d like to hear your thoughts on the movie.

  • Did you watch it in 3D IMAX theater? How was the experience? Did you enjoy the VFX more than the story/drama?
  • Was the movie too long? Was it too melodramatic and sentimental?
  • From scale 1 to 5 with 1 being the weakest to 5 as the awesomest (if that’s even a word) what grade would you give TRON: LEGACY?
  • How bout them awesome lightcycles huh?! : )
  • What did you think about the digital, de-aged Jeff Bridges, CLU? Did CLU look convincing.. or creepy?
  • Do you think one needs to watch the original film first before he/she goes to watch TRON: LEGACY? Did TRON: LEGACY do more than enough to reach out to today’s audience who may not have watched the original film
  • Those of you fans of the original, was it everything that you hoped it would be? Was it nostalgic enough? Did the fact that TRON (lead hero in the first film) played more of a supporting role bother you at all?
  • What’s you most favorite scene in the film?
  • Which scene did you think was the weakest?

  1. just saw it….i had loved the 1st one….this kind of felt like one of those crappy sequels that was made for the heck of it…..didn’t measure up…..you can’t simulate someone like Jeff Bridges, man….he is just The Dude…..and Tron’s “I fight for the User” change in the end was too crappy….the dude who played the son wasn’t good enough…..Michael Sheen over did it too much …Olivia Wilde was too hot…..and old Jeff Bridges was as awesome as ever….3/5

ya.. my sentiment exactly.. visually this sequel is great but it’s got so many elements that didn’t make the film perfect..

  4. I love it. The movie did a GREAT job of pulling in a ton of historical and philosophical references.

  5. I saw it, the bike race was the best scene. Sucked that there was really only one race on the bikes though. Olivia Wildes was great in it. I thought she would kick more butt in the fight scenes though. I never saw the first one so i was pretty lost. I didn’t understand the “Tron” character at all. The weakest scene was the beginning with Cillian Murphy, it seemed like he would play a pivitol role in the film instead he disappeared after the beginning. Overall i’d give the movie a 3.5 out of 5. It’s visuals and the music by daft punk outweighed the mediocre plot.

  6. I liked it. Some of the people that we saw it with hadn’t seen the original and they liked it and were able to follow it for the most part. I saw the original and thought there were a few inconsistencies from that one. I don’t want to say too much as a spoiler alert, but the whole redemption thing (ala Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi) was unexplained. It was very stylish and visually stunning. Not sure how well the CLU character will hold up in the 2-D DVD/Blu-Ray version. He looked ok at first, but as they made him more expressive he looked increasingly more disturbing. I love Michael Sheen so his over the top characters is always fun to watch. Overall I liked it.

    • @Eric.. I’m glad you enjoyed it.. I guess in the end, that’s what counts.. that the audience had fun.. despite the story being so incredibly weak

  7. Rama, I don’t go in with a lot of expectations and not worried about the story line so my disappointment isn’t huge. I think it’s hard to do a good story line with sci-fi, but stupendous SFX usually trumps a mediocre story line for most people.
