Gina Carano Steven Soderbergh

I don’t know producers or studios or filmmakers sometimes decide on changing their title from something that sounds cool to something that sound any less. Cause to me, there’s nothing wrong with the word KNOCKOUT, it’s appropriate for action or thriller flicks but alas, according to ThePlaylist, that director Steven Soderbergh‘s highly anticipated project starring MMA star Gina Carano, now has a new title,.. HAYWIRE, which will be released by Lionsgate in January 2011. That’s ground for concerns to me, it’s a Soderbergh’s movie for pete’s sake, what the hell is it doing in the month of January where crappy movies are dumped. Unless the intention is to have it open in limited theaters nearing the end of the year and it would expand in January…

Gina Carano plays Mallory Kane, a tough girl a solid background and was raised around military honor and academia. She leaves the military to go to work for a Blackwater-esque company to make better money and then is eventually betrayed by one of her teammates. She seeks to uncover who has set her up to take the fall for a job that goes bad and involves a murder.
Michael Douglas plays a government figure who ultimately proves to be an ally
Ewan McGregor plays the owner of the Blackwater-type special ops team (and once a romantic interest to the lead) is involved in making Kane take the fall
Michael Fassbender plays a member of Kane’s commando spy unit, an untrustworthy teammate.
Bill Paxton plays Kane’s father.
Channing Tatum will play one of the elite specialists on Carano’s team named Aaron, “a military gearhead-type who’s sent to try and bring her back in once she’s been double-crossed and gone rogue; trying to figure out who exactly is setting her up”.
Antonio Banderas will play the head of a Black-ops European unit.

The composer of Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Eleven movies, David Holmes, will be writing the score.
Here’s a funny fact that the website discovered.. turns out, all those male supporting roles were initially offered to several Action movie stars but guess what.. “they were not very comfortable in a supporting role where a woman beats them senseless” Damn those action stars go too much pride.
