Sony Pictures Has Its Own TWIST ON THE CLASSIC TALE Of MERMAID

How many of you still remember the story of Disney’s classic animated feature, The Little Mermaid? How many of you are familiar with the original dark story by Han Christian Andersen? Fewer of you are probably raising your hands right now about the latter. Variety reported that director Shana Feste (Country Strong) will write and direct Sony Pictures’ new take on the MERMAID tale based on the book MERMAID: A TWIST ON THE CLASSIC TALE by author Carolyn Turgeon.
This will be a dark re-telling produced by Tobey Maguire‘s Material Pictures and Jenno Topping. Keep in mind that director Joe Wright (Hanna) is also developing his own separate live action MERMAID movie.

“Two sheltered princesses, one wounded warrior; who will live happily ever after?
Princess Margrethe has been hidden away while her kingdom is at war.
