SPACE INVADERS Hittin’ The Big Screen!

I remember last year, around spring I think, WB attempted to buy the film rights from Taito, the Japanese company that originally manufactured SPACE INVADERS. Well, the movie is happening but Heat Vision doesn’t mention WB..

The classic 1980 arcade game that a lot of us grew up playing, will now have a feature adaptation thanks to super producer Lorenzo di Bonaventural and producer Gigi Pritzker of Odd Lot Entertainment, who have optioned the rights to develop the project and they’re now looking for a writer to pitch in a workable story.
Of all the previous attempts to turn this particular classic game into a movie, finally a success story. But at the same time, ya know the track record with game-based movies right?! Let’s just put it this way.. they tend to stink!
The challenge is to design a mythology which SPACE INVADERS doesn’t really have.
di Bonaventura is one of the men responsible for Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises, so I don’t know if that could be grounds for concern. O and he’s also developing the game-based movie ASTEROIDS.
