This year, director Steven Spielberg has 2 movies for ya.. WAR HORSE and THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN and as you know, the legendary filmmaker will soon be developing 2 more new movies for ya.. LINCOLN biopic and ROBOPOCALYPSE adaptation. Spielberg talked to Empire and gave a few update..
About LINCOLN and the difference between this historical film than AMISTAD which he also made
“We start shooting in October. Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book Team Of Rivals is much too big a book to be a movie, so the Lincoln story only takes place in the last few months of his Presidency and life. I was interested in how he ended the war through all the efforts of his generals…but more importantly how he passed the 13th Amendment into constitutional law. The Emancipation Proclamation was a war powers act and could have been struck down by any court after the war ended…But what permanently ended slavery was the very close vote in the House of Representatives over the 13th Amendment – that story I’m excited to tell.”
“Amistad is much more visual than Lincoln is going to be. It feels very much like a procedural. It shows Lincoln at work, not just Lincoln standing around posing for the history books…arguably the greatest working President in American history doing some of the greatest work for the world.”
About ROBOPOCALYPSE
“It reminded me of Michael Crichton. I’m in pre-production on it right now. I’m hoping to start shooting the picture some time in ’12. I don’t exactly know when, hopefully some time this summer, for a ’13 release.”

Project produced by 6 time Oscar nominated producer Kathleen Kennedy and Spielberg.. that’s a lot of prestigious awards in one paragraph!!!
The film will focus on Lincoln’s political collision and the powerful men of his cabinet on the road to abolition and the end of the civil war
LINCOLN is expected to start production in the fall of 2011 for release in the fourth quarter of 2012 through Disney’s Touchstone distribution label.
ROBOPOCALYPSE
DreamWorks and Fox will both co-finance the great director Steven Spielberg‘s next movie, after he’s done with LINCOLN biopic, the adaptation of Daniel H. Wilson‘s novel, ROBOPOCALYPSE, which is a man vs. machine cautionary tale that explores the fate of the human race following a robot uprising
Disney will release the film domestically while Fox will release the film overseas. ROBOPOCALYPSE opens July 3rd, 2013..
In November 2009, DreamWorks Studios and Doubleday bought, in a pre-emptive deal, the rights to Daniel H. Wilson’s unpublished manuscript titled ROBOPOCALYPSE
Keep in mind that this was still on its way to being published and yet Mark Sourian and Holly Bario, Dreamworks Co-Presidents of Production were already loving the potential and prospect that ROBOPOCALYPSE has for the big screen.
DreamWorks is putting the project into accelerated development.
The book itself was finally published in 2011. Drew Goddard (Cloverfield) was hired to write the script for the adaptation back when Wilson wasn’t even finished with the book yet.
Here’s the book‘s official synopsis..
They are in your house. They are in your car. They are in the skies…Now they’re coming for you.
In the near future, at a moment no one will notice, all the dazzling technology that runs our world will unite and turn against us. Taking on the persona of a shy human boy, a childlike but massively powerful artificial intelligence known as Archos comes online and assumes control over the global network of machines that regulate everything from transportation to utilities, defense and communication. In the months leading up to this, sporadic glitches are noticed by a handful of unconnected humans – a single mother disconcerted by her daughter’s menacing “smart” toys, a lonely Japanese bachelor who is victimized by his domestic robot companion, an isolated U.S. soldier who witnesses a ‘pacification unit’ go haywire – but most are unaware of the growing rebellion until it is too late.
When the Robot War ignites — at a moment known later as Zero Hour — humankind will be both decimated and, possibly, for the first time in history, united. Robopocalypse is a brilliantly conceived action-filled epic, a terrifying story with heart-stopping implications for the real technology all around us…and an entertaining and engaging thriller unlike anything else written in years.
