Spielberg Will Soon Decide Whether Or Not He’d Want To Direct WB’s Moses Film, GODS AND KINGS

Last year WB wanted Steven Spielberg to direct studio’s MOSES project, titled GODS AND KINGS and last November, it was reported that WB and Spielberg entered formal negotiations. So the question is will this be the great filmmaker’s next project after he’s done with ROBOPOCALYPSE?…

Filming on LINCOLN was wrapped and Spielberg reportedly has started working on ROBOPOCALYPSE.
His drama War Horse was recently nominated for Best Picture but his animated movie, The Adventures Of Tintin got snubbed.
But back to GODS AND KINGS..

Deadline reported that Spielberg is really close to signing a deal with WB to helm this ambitious biopic of one of biblical icons and the film is described as the Braveheart-ish version of the Moses story. His involvement with this project may be confirmed by the end of this month.
Here’s the surprise though, there’s no plan of shooting this film in 3D. yup! You would think that since it’s WB and possibly Spielberg, that they’d want this in 3D but there’s no talks of it yet and let’s hope it stays that way.
But the intention was not to remake the 1956 Cecile B. DeMille-directed The Ten Commandments starring the late great Charlton Heston which took in $65 Million and that was a lot of money back then.
WB wants Spielberg to direct GODS AND KINGS with the gritty reality of Saving Private Ryan, they want this to be a warrior story
Production is expected to start in Spring of 2013.

Produced by Dan Lin and Matti Leshem and the film’s official title is GODS AND KINGS
Scripted by British screenwriter Stuart Hazeldine (PARADISE LOST) and screenwriter Michael Green who co-wrote WB’s Green Lantern
