SUPER TROOPERS 2 Is Happening. Brian Cox Will Be Back

If you were to list the 10 best comedy of this past decade, would you include Super Troopers (2001)? Would you put it in top 3 or top 5 maybe? It is still considered a cult hit and the funniest movie the Broken Lizards gang ever came up with. Moviecultists recently interviewed 4 of the members, Jay Chandrasekhar, Paul Soter, Steve Lemme, and Erik Stolhanske, the guys I usually call this generation’s Monty Phyton. They confirmed that the one thing that the fans have been asking for all these years, SUPER TROOPERS 2, is indeed happening….

“We have the financing,”
“So we’re going to try to make a deal with Fox.”
“We’re like, three drafts into it,”
“It’s funny, because we have an independent financier — we have a lot of independent financiers — who are like, ‘Give us that fucking movie.’ And we’re like, ‘We will, we will but we have to go through a studio first.’ But it’s a great thing to go to a studio and say, ‘We have the money.’”

Not only that, they also revealed thesp Brian Cox will return as Captain O’Hagan.. Awesome
“I’ll believe ya when me shit turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbet” Ha!

“Oh, yeah. Yep. He’ll be in it,”
“I mean, he loved [the first one]. He loved it.”
“Yeah, I ran into him last year and he said he’s approached more about Super Troopers than any of the films he’s done,”
“Which is amazing, because you look now at some of the films he’s done — it’s pretty cool.”

They also said the story will pick up where the first one left off. Between you and me, the synopsis wasn’t that big of a deal because to me, it was just a pile of one laugh riot rivalry after another. The first installment was about “Vermont state troopers stationed in a remote area near the Canadian border, the troopers, avid pranksters with an affinity for syrup, have a knack for screwing up on the job. But when budget cuts in the town of Spurbury threaten their livelihood and pit them against arch-rival Spurbury P.D., the five friends try to straighten up and fly right. That is, until a dead body is discovered and a possible drug ring is unearthed. The super troopers spring into action attempting to solve the crime, save their jobs, and outdo the local police department.”
