If you haven’t seen Carey Mulligan this year in the excellent movie An Education, make sure you put that on your must-see list and check your local theaters to see if they’re playing it because come spring of next year she’d get either nominated or actually take home a golden statuette herself. Carey Mulligan along with Tom Wilkinson, Christopher Eccleston, Mackenzie Crook and Joanna Lumley have all been cast in THE BEAUTIFUL FANTASTIC, it’s described as a “modern fairy tale in the vein of Amelie and Finding Neverland“. Well, that’s a good sign, those are two of my favorite movies of this decade.
Acquired recently by Bankside Films, the project will be directed by Terry Loane from a script written by Simon Aboud.

The story centers on “frustrated children’s author Bella Brown, who only leaves her obsessively ordered flat for work at the library. Chronically shy, she has no friends, no family and no life until she falls in with Billy, a hopelessly messy inventor who whirls through the library’s carefully balanced world like a shambolic tornado.”
Principal photography will start in March 2010 with locations in Edinburgh, Scotland and in studio facilities in Cologne, Germany.
