The boy in the image above is Ryan Patterson, while others in high school would rather play video games or do Jackass-type stunts in their backyard, Patterson made something of himself.. he became ELECTRIC BOY GENIUS..
Deadline said Disney has hired 2009′s feel good movie The Blind Side director John Lee Hancock to helm the adaptation of ELECTRIC BOY GENIUS, based on the 2002 GQ article by Andrew Corsello, about Patterson’s entry into the 2001 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, which he won and got him a job working in aerospace robotics for Lockheed Martin.
“While in diapers, he was stuffing knives into electrical sockets and learning the power of electricity the hard way. After he watched his father do wiring work on the family home, the youth mastered the principles of electrical flow. He was building robots by the time he was in high school and developing innovations like an electronic sign-language translator”
That’s the glove you see in the image above by the way, a glove that can translate American Sign Language into text and yes, Patterson designed and built it using a leather golf glove with 10 sensors, a small circuit board containing a micro controller, analog-to-digital converter and a radio-frequency transmitter. According to Wired..The glove works by sensing the hand movements of the sign language alphabet, then wirelessly transmitting the data to a portable device that displays the text on-screen.
Wow! Bravo!.. Makes me wish I didn’t spend too much time on movies and had focused more on my study.. wait.. nah.. I’ll stick with movies. Ha!
