The First Script For HOBBIT Is Finished.

It’s time for some updates on THE HOBBIT, remember that one? The long, ambitious project to bring Tolkien classic to life on the screen, the movie will come in 2 parts. Producer Peter Jackson spoke recently via inthenews and BBC and revealed that the first script is done, the studio loved it, and they’re now working on the second script…
“The Hobbit will be two movies and we’ve written the first script and delivered it to the studio who seem to be happy with it,”
“We’re now halfway through the second script and Philippa, Fran, Guillermo and myself are doing the scripts and having great fun.”
“It was an interesting experience because eight or nine years have passed since we wrote the Lord of the Rings screenplays and I was worried it’d be weird or hard or uncomfortable to go back there, but as soon as we started writing the scripts it was fun, actually, and easy.”
Ian McKellen who will reprise his role did say at one point that he has received the script and it would take about 383 days to film both parts of the movie.
Jackson may be returning to middle earth but Guillermo Del Toro is the director and so Jackson couldn’t emphasize enough the fact that in the end it all depends on GDT’s vision and how he would visualize the story.
“We’re writing the screenplays with him, so in terms of the script, there is continuity,”
“We’re writing Ian McKellen’s dialogue just the same as we did in Lord Of The Rings. But Guillermo, being the director, will obviously take the script and interpret that and shoot his film. So that’ll be interesting to see.
“That’s actually the reason I wanted him to do it. I felt like I’d be trying to compete with myself and deliberately do things differently, which is not the way I want to work. I want it to be natural.”
Jackson, the filmmaker that has been called the Geek God, is open to today’s 3D cinematic experience, keep in mind that he and Steven Spielberg have filmed the first TINTIN Movie which will be in 3D. But Jackson is not always gung-ho about it like his friend James Cameron. THE HOBBIT itself will not be in 3D.
“Guillermo wants to shoot in 35mm, old-fashioned film,”
“which suits me, because he wants to keep it in the same space as the original trilogy”.
As far as TINTIN goes, he said the movie is already made, it’s is cut together but still exists in a rough state, it will take a while in animation and post-production, turning it into a fully-rendered film
THE HOBBIT part I opens 2011 and part II opens 2012
