The Last 8 Minutes Of PROMETHEUS Evolve Into ‘A Pretty Good DNA Of The ‘Alien’ One’What have we known so far about PROMETHEUS, which marks Ridley Scott‘s return to sci-fi? I’m sure you’ve heard the term ALIEN DNA a lot, again and again it’s been suggested that though this is not straight up ALIEN prequel, it’s more or less ALIEN-esque. The footage I saw at Comic-Con ’11 was nothing short of mindblowing and I can’t wait to see the final product. Scott talked to Speakeasy, you can read the entire interview article OVER THERE, but check out what he said in this excerpt…
The central metaphor of “Prometheus” is about a “higher being” (Scott’s words) who challenges the gods, and the gods don’t want to give him fire. “Fire is our first form of technology,” Scott says, and so by taking fire, the higher being is punished “in perpetuity in a horrible fashion.” Much like the story of the mythological god, Prometheus, who stole fire from Zeus and for his actions was bound to a rock with an eagle eternally devouring his liver. The last eight minutes of the “Prometheus” story evolve into “a pretty good DNA of the ‘Alien’ one.”Scott also said Sigourney Weaver will not make any type of cameo in this film. Starring Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Patrick Wilson and Guy Pearce Here’s the plot synopsis.. “Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.” PROMETHEUS opens June 8th, 2012
