The Tourist

You’ve heard that Angelina Jolie has replaced Charlize Theron and Sam Worthington has replaced Tom Cruise in THE TOURIST, an upcoming Spyglass thriller remake of a 2005 French thriller titled ANTHONY ZIMMER about an American tourist who finds his life in danger when a female Interpol agent uses him as a dupe to flush out an elusive criminal with whom she once had an affair.
THE TOURIST has been described to be in the same spirit as Hitchcock’s The Man Who Knew Too Much, Polanski’s Frantic and Morel’s Taken.
But who will replace Bharat Nalluri (Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) who exited the project too?…

Variety has reported Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, the German filmmaker whose movie The Lives Of Others ‘took away’ the Oscar from Guillermo Del Toro‘s Pan’s Labyrinth a couple of years ago, has become the top candidate to direct THE TOURIST.
Spyglass came down to this one name after meeting with several other directors because Jolie would only say yes if she agreed with who they pick as the helmer. The deal is expected to be locked in soon enough and Spyglass has scheduled the movie to open in 2011.
