The RESTLESS Gus Van Sant

If Slumdog Millionaire wasn’t part of the previous Oscar Race, I’m sure Best Director and Best Picture would’ve easily gone to Gus Van Sant and his inspirational drama Milk. Sean Penn and Dustin Lance Black‘s wins on Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay categories were indicators that the movie could’ve swept the rest if it weren’t for the feel-good Mumbay love story.
For his next gig, Van Sant is going to reteam with his Psycho remake fellow producer Brian Grazer for an original work titled RESTLESS written by first-time screenwriter Jason Lew
Just like Nolan’s secretive Inception, the plot for RESTLESS is kept under wraps, but described as contemporary and distinctive take on young love. Hollywood Reporter even included the background story of how this project came to be, he and redhead beauty Bryce Dallas Howard (Spider-Man 3, Terminator Salvation) attended NYU and Bryce did plays that Lew worked on and so she got a peek at RESTLESS and encouraged him to write it as a screenplay.
Bryce brought it to her father, you might’ve heard of him, a man called Ron Howard who then wanted to develop it for Imagine.
So now Bryce, Ron, and Grazer will be the lead producers
Doug Belgrad and Andrea Giannetti will oversee the project for Columbia Pictures, and they’d like Van Sant to start filming in Oregon with a budget of about $15 million.
