I had high hopes for THE WOLFMAN, the anticipation of seeing Oscar winning make up artist Rick Baker‘s latest work, the combination of talents that are Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins and Hugo Weaving. (Sorry Emily Blunt, you’re hot but actingwise, you’re not as great as those three yet), not to mention the trailer was wicked! But alas,… I heard test screeners didn’t enjoy the movie, original score composer Danny Elfman left the project, and that info on how the movie still needed more reshoot and editing work. I mean what happened? Del Toro, Baker, and Blunt came to Comic-Con ’09, feeling confident that they’ve got this one in the bag but now it seems like it’s all over the place and director Joe Johnston and Universal only got til February 12th, 2010 to come up with a decent final theatrical cut.

Now the great slashfilm has received an info from Universal stating that THE WOLFMAN will be rated R for “bloody horror, violence and gore.” I don’t mind, I never expected it to be anything less anyway. In fact, bloody horror, violence and gore are what would make THE WOLFMAN movie watching experience exciting. What’s odd is why it needs to be released on Valentine’s Day weekend. What is it about THE WOLFMAN that speaks about love…. love hurts perhaps? Love literally hurts.
