The Working Title For The New JACK RYAN Movie Is MOSCOW. Here’s The Plot So Far…

Ever since Chris Pine was chosen as the new Jack Ryan, we haven’t heard much from that camp. Paramount hasn’t been very noisy about it but today Pajiba learned that scribe Adam Cozad that was recruited to do rewrite on Hossein Amini‘s original draft, has come up with an interesting plot. But here’s what you need to know so far,.. it’s not an origin story, it won’t be based on any Tom Clancy novel, Pine’s Jack Ryan will have a wife and the story picks up when Jack works on Wall Street. The movie will pick up with the Jack Ryan not long after his stint in the Marines, before he’s joined the CIA, while he’s a Wall Street stock broker, an occupation that will play heavily into the script. In the Clancy novels, Jack Ryan was a successful financial analyst in Baltimore for Merrill Lynch. In the new movie, he will have transplanted to Moscow to continue his financial advising, not for Merill Lynch (which has been absorbed by Bank of America), but for a billionaire employer. It is that billionaire employer who eventually sets Jack Ryan up to take the fall for terrorist plot designed to collapse the U.S. economy.
After that, Ryan must race against time to clear his name, reveal the terrorist plot, and save his wife, who has been taken hostage by the billionaire employer.

A lot of times when new writers are brought into the mix, they use incorporate their old work into the story, tweaking it to adapt to the new material, instead of using other scribe’s draft or going from zero.
The website says that the plot is more or less similar to Cozad’s previous script titled DUBAI (also a city title) which he sold to producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura back in 2007 with Eric Bana at one point attached to produce and star. DUBAI is a chase movie about “American economist who moves to Dubai an uncovers a terrorist plot to cover a huge drop in the value of the U.S. dollar, leading to mass starvation”. Sounds like get to see DUBAI movie after all, in the form of this new JACK RYAN installment titled MOSCOW.
