THE X-FILES 3 Script Is Being Written?

Here’s a rumor that would excite those of us fans of THE X-FILES franchise. David Duchovny previously said he wanted the third installment to arrive by 2012. Now, thanks to Rama’s SCREEN reader Kylie Thomas for the heads up, according to a French interview with TV Mag, Duchovny has reportedly said that the script is already in the works. It is being written. One awaits just the green light from Fox, a little disappointed from the relatively poor reception of the second film. The error comes, in my opinion, that the authors strayed too far from the roots of the series. Moreover, the film was released in the summer. The third will be much closer to what the public expects, with government conspiracies, etc.

X-Files: I Want To Believe was made with a budget of $30 Million, it only earned $10 Million in its opening weekend and it ended up doing poorly at domestic box office earning only $20 Million mostly because it suffered from being released the weekend after the great Nolan film The Dark Knight
But Mulder and Scully were received better overseas, earning a total of $68 Million, which gives the studio enough motivation to not rule out the possibility of a third installment.
