There Will Be A Reality Talent Show In China To Find Chinese Actors For TRANSFORMERS 4

Transformers 4

As you know, TRANSFORMERS 4 will have its scenes shot in Chicago, Michigan, and they’ll also go to China. They’re going to cast Chinese actors and actresses and do some of the theatrical promotion and possible post-prod there as well. Transformers: Dark of the Moon, in 2011, banked $165 million at box office in China..

Here’s the interesting part and the following is no joke. Via THR, Paramount will hold a Talent Search Competition Show in China to find 4 Chinese actors. Yup! former AMPAS president Sid Ganis will be among the jury, alongside producer Lorenzo DiBonaventura and casting director Denise Chamian and Paramount’s Megan Colligan.
So instead of your usual audition, this is going to be a big reality TV like America’s Got Talent-type and the winners are Chinese people who’ll be given 4 leading roles in TRANSFORMERS 4. Yup, that’s a lot of ‘four’ in one sentence.
What do you think? If you’re an aspiring actor out there, do you think this is the futur of casting calls and audition? Broadcasting it live for people of the world to see how well you read lines?

TRANSFORMERS 4 starts filming in Spring 2013 and it will hit theaters June 27, 2014.
Once again directed by Michael Bay and produced by Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ian Bryce, and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Bay, Brian Goldner and Mark Vahradian.
Starring Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Stanely Tucci, and Mark Wahlberg
The story takes place 4 years after the events in Transformers: Dark Of The Moon.

Looks like Michael Bay found a way to one-up Peter Berg’s terrible war veteran / super-model casting strategy used in the movie Battleship. Bravo .
