I actually genuinely enjoyed the 2011 feature adaptation, THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN, directed by Steven Spielberg who also produced it with his buddy, Peter Jackson.
The plan was always to have Peter Jackson handle the sequel, but nothing has happened since.
Although, via BadTaste.it, Jackson who’s currently out promoting THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG, said that TINTIN sequel will still happen after he’s done with Middle-Earth of course.
“As soon as I’m free of The Hobbit, I’ll be going back into doing ‘Tintin.’ It was held up by The Hobbit, but we have every intention of doing another Tintin movie and it’s just waiting on me to be done with these ‘Hobbit’ movies.”
And though it’s still not sure on which Herge’s TINTIN books would the base the sequel, rumor had it Jackson has his eye on SEVEN CRYSTAL BALLS, PRISONERS OF THE SUN and possibly THE BLACK ISLAND.
TINTIN project incorporates heavy VFX and performance capture technology, long post-prod process.
