Tom Cruise Developing A Seperate FLYING TIGERS Movie
October 8, 2010RamaOne CommentFlying Tigers, John Woo, Tom Cruise

Last year, it was reported that Tom Cruise might reteam with John Woo (MI:2) for his next movie FLYING TIGERS, based on a true story in WWII, about a group of American volunteer fighter pilots who worked with the Chinese Air Force fighting with the Japanese and they won the war but the info was slightly incorrect. Woo is definitely filming FLYING TIGERS but Tom Cruise is making his own separate FLYING TIGERS too..
Woo’s FLYING TIGERS is the story of Clair Chennault and he wants he wants to cast Liam Neeson for the role. The film will tell the story of the special team set up by Lieutenant General Claire Chennault in Yunnan Province and how it fought against the Japanese Air Force in Myanmar and South-West China.”
The budget is $90 million, it’s 1940s bilingual movie and we can expect some hardcore aerial battle Woo-style!
Now, according to Deadline, Tom Cruise‘s FLYING TIGERS is about the same damn thing. “Based on the story of the volunteered fighter squadron formed by General Claire Chennault to help the Chinese fight against the Empire of Japan before the United States entered WWII”
Identical twin right.. Top Gun star wants to be a pilot again but this time it’s a period war movie.
This take will be scripted by Kirk Ellis, rewriting a draft by scribe Christopher McQuarrie (Valkyrie) and Mason Alley. The project is produced by Jeff Greene
Perhaps Cruise would like to change the title of his project out of respect for Woo, but no word yet if that’s gonna happen. The competition is on!
Yet another case of Deep Impact Vs. Armageddon..

So.. What Did You Think About TRON: LEGACY? Dec 17, 2010

I am very excited and I look forward to these “American Volunteer Group” films. As a AVG historian and collector I hope they are historically correct and not another rosy cheek, grossly inaccurate, cornball “Pearl Harbor”.
